$7m housing complex almost ready
A new $7.04 million social housing complex will soon open in Caboolture and be home for 20 individuals and families. Fifteen single bedroom apartments and five two-bedroom apartments are being finished in the King St development. The three-storey building, which supported 23 full-time jobs during construction, is lift-serviced, close to shops, Caboolture State School and the train station. Designs are to a Gold Level of accessibility in 15 of the units with level thresholds, wider doorways and halls and grab rails, for people with varying levels of mobility. The other units are to Platinum Level making them suitable for those in wheelchairs each unit has parking, as well as communal spaces and landscaping. |
There are gated entry spaces for privacy, a clothesline or storing bikes and other large items, as well as patios.
Work is expected to start on another 176 social homes in the region in the next two years.
“Morayfield, Caboolture and other suburbs in the Moreton Bay Region have seen significant population growth in recent times,” Housing Minister Meaghan Scanlon said.
“It is important that social housing is available to help people in need, including seniors, younger people and families.
“Shovels are in the ground right now across hundreds of sites through our $5 billion for social and affordable housing.
State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said: “This new complex will provide help for the most vulnerable in our community – including those with a disability and seniors who require a greater level of accessibility.”
