Adoption rates dropped to help two loving boys find their 'furever' homes
Two dogs who have spent several weeks patiently waiting to be adopted at the RSPCA Dakabin Animal Care Centre have had their adoption prices dropped in the hope of finding them new owners sooner rather than later.
It is all part of a campaign RSPCA Queensland is running called Get Me Outta Here, which aims to get some of the animals who might have been overlooked, or who are “homesick”, into loving homes.
RSPCA spokeswoman Emma Lagoon hopes the Moreton Bay community will come on board to give these two boys a fresh start.
“We're hoping to find some very special long-term dogs at Dakabin their new forever homes this week by reducing their adoption fees to $100 until October 17,” Emma said.
“The state-wide promotion is to help long-term dogs in our care that have been sadly overlooked for adoption and would much prefer a home than shelter life.
“Mason is a one-year-old Ridgeback cross Staghound who has been patiently waiting since August for a new family.
“Ben, also the same age, is a Staghound cross Kelpie who has been looking for a home since September.
“Both dogs came into our care separately and sadly were never reclaimed by their owners.
“Over the last three months we've seen a steady decline in adoption interest so we're hoping extra exposure will help these homeless pets find homes faster.”
Mason
Mason (pictured above) loves people but he will need an experienced owner as he can be boisterous and rough with his affection.
He could benefit from some training, and is eager to learn.
With a little extra guidance, Mason will be able to play lots of games with his new owner.
Mason has been desexed, his vaccinations and worming are up to date, and he has been microchipped.

Ben
Ben (pictured above) is all about love – he loves food, other pooches, humans, and going on adventures.
He is an extremely outgoing boy who is eager to please and wants to learn as many tricks as you are willing to teach.
At the end of the day, Ben is happy to cuddle up next to you on the couch and receive lots of pats.
Ben has been desexed, his vaccinations and worming are up to date, and he has been microchipped.
