Big plans for shopping centre car park

Plans have been lodged to turn a large car park, pictured, in Albany Creek into a childcare centre, shops, health care and veterinary services.

The 4511sqm site is on Wruck Crescent and used mainly as an overflow car park for Albany Creek Village shopping centre.

However, a development application submitted to Moreton Bay City Council, includes proposals for a Pet Barn outlet with vet services.

There would also be a childcare centre, with seven activity rooms, an outdoor play area and staff facilities, for a maximum of 120 children.

The application says the “exact function” of the second section “remains under consideration” but it lists “food and drink outlet, healthcare services and office”.

Single-storey buildings could cover 42 per cent of the site which would have 37 parking spaces (19 retail and 18 childcare) and 12 bicycle spaces.

The application, available on Council’s DA Tracker website, includes plans to widen the existing footpath along the 50m frontage of the site.
