Work is set to start on stage one the Bruce Highway upgrade between Dohles Rocks Rd and Anzac Ave.

Transport and Main Roads (TMR) says nightworks with temporary lane closures will start on Sunday (July 28) for “vegetation removal”.

Nightworks are required to minimise the impact on day-time traffic, according to TMR, which says the work will last five days.

TMR says motorists and residents nearby can expect:

  • Night works between 7pm and 6am from Sunday, July 28 to Thursday, August 1, 2024, weather and construction conditions permitting
  • A temporary single lane closure on the Bruce Highway northbound from Dohles Rocks Rd to Blackall Rd from Sunday to Tuesday, July 28-30
  • Temporary single lane closure southbound from Normanby Rd to Dohles Rocks Rd from on Wednesday and Thursday (July 31-August 1)
  • Motorists and nearby residents may experience short-term impacts including noise, flashing lights, dust and vibration
  • Reversing beepers and flashing lights are a safety requirement and will be used at all times during working hours
  • Minor delays when temporary lane closures are in place
  • Motorists are advised to adhere to reduced speed limits, construction signage and the directions of traffic controllers at all times
  • Emergency vehicles will be given priority access through the work site.

TMR says it “acknowledges the cooperation and patience of the community during this first phase of construction” and will keep the community informed as the project progresses towards main construction.
