Building on Giving Day success

As the countdown begins for the 2023 Raise it for Redcliffe Giving Day, supporters of last year’s campaign have seen firsthand how they are making a difference.

They visited the hospital’s rehabilitation unit to help turn the first sod on the final stage of the hospital’s rehabilitation unit renovation last week.

RBWH Foundation CEO Simone Garske says the $200,000 renovation of the unit’s lounge area and two courtyards was possible thanks to the generosity of the Moreton Bay community and its business leaders.

“The Moreton region can be extremely proud for embracing revitalisation projects, such as the rehabilitation unit renovation, which have the potential to impact hundreds of local residents each year,” Simone says.

“The unit often becomes a second home to long-stay patients, as well as visitors, who can now enjoy a comfortable, welcoming environment, suitable for all age groups.”

Joining the sod-turning celebrations were founding Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day Impact Partners Lewis Land Group (The Komo and The Belvedere), Ballycara and GKS Law, whose generosity during the past two years have enabled Giving Day donations to be doubled.

Lewis Land Group used the occasion to kickstart this year’s Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day, October 12, presenting a $50,000 cheque for matched giving.

Since 2021, the hospitality group has donated $150,000 and provided toys and gifts valued at more than $20,000 for children treated at Redcliffe Hospital during Christmas.

RBWH Foundation CEO Simone Garske applauded Lewis Land Group’s leadership and urged other corporate organisations and philanthropic individuals to become Impact Partners.

“Through their vision and generosity, our local leaders encourage others to give,” Simone says.

“Their inspirational philanthropy improves the lives of patients, now and into the future.”

About Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day

Giving Day is the main fundraising activity for Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital, a partnership between the RBWH Foundation and Redcliffe Hospital.

All money raised supports patient care projects, life-changing health research and other initiatives that enable the hospital to go above and beyond government funding.

“In a community as tight knit as the Moreton Bay region, almost everyone has a connection to Redcliffe Hospital,” Simone says.

“When we talk about making a difference, we’re making that difference for your family, your friends, your staff and your neighbours.”
