Burpengary woman charged

A 33-year-old Burpengary woman has been charged with stealing, unlawful entry with intent, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two offences of attempted robbery.

The charges came after she was arrested by police with the help of Police Dog Reaper in relation to alleged multiple robbery offences that occurred in Burpengary on January 10.

Police say that about 2.12pm on January 10, officers were called to Derwent St, where the woman was allegedly armed with a socket wrench that she used to smash a car window and windscreen.

They allege the woman made a hole in the broken windscreen that she could crawl through, and threatened the driver of the vehicle in a bid to make them hand over car keys, before fleeing into nearby bushland.

Assault charges

A short time later, police were advised the woman was attempting to steal vehicles along Morayfield Rd and allegedly entered two unlocked vehicles and tried to start them but was removed from the cars by the property owner.

It is alleged the 33-year-old woman threated a man, seeking the car keys, claiming she had a knife but, she fled before police arrived.

PD Reaper and his handler Sergeant Austin, allegedly found the woman hiding under a tarpaulin in the yard of a house on Havenwood St at Burpengary.

It is further alleged she was found in possession of a knife.

She was further charged with serious assault of a police officer after it is alleged she attempted to take an officer’s firearm while she was being treated at a local hospital on January 11.

She was due in Caboolture Magistrates Court today.
