Organisers of this year’s Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day are calling on Moreton Bay businesses to follow the lead of Lewis Land in supporting the event.

Lewis Land owns Redcliffe's The Belvedere and The Komo hotels and has kickstarted the 2024 Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day, on August 29, returning as an Impact Partner to match donations made by the general public.

The call is now out for other business leaders to help push Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital’s fundraising tally beyond $1 million.

Lewis Land Queensland Regional Manager Chris Allison says the decision to support the campaign again this year was a no-brainer.

“Everyone that has worked for us has had a connection to the hospital and how could you not say: ‘It's important to them, it's important to us’?” he asks.

“We consider there is no more important facility in the entire community than the Redcliffe Hospital.”

Giving Day is the major fundraising campaign for Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital, a partnership between the RBWH Foundation and Redcliffe Hospital.

Money raised supports life-changing health research, staff wellbeing and patient care initiatives that fall outside the scope of government funding.

Every donation received by August 29 will be doubled by Giving Day Impact Partners such as Lewis Land. Donations can be made online.

RBWH Foundation CEO Simone Garske says having the support of corporate leaders, such as Lewis Land, makes a big difference.

“The impact of that generosity is felt each and every day through access to vital equipment, transformative research and those small comforts that make difficult times easier to bear,” she says.

The extraordinary power of giving by Moreton Bay over the past three has renovated the hospital’s Rehabilitation and Stroke Unit common areas, will start refurbishment of the Palliative Care Unit common areas and will now focus on adding a touch of home to the Children’s Ward playroom and parent lounge.

“We have the best healthcare system in the world, but when there's an opportunity to make it better, and private enterprise sometimes has the means to do that, then I think we should,” Chris says.
