Crime round-up: cars stolen, drink-driving charges

Caboolture

A 62-year-old Caboolture man has been charged with possession of a dangerous drug, possession of property used in connection with using a dangerous drug and obstructing police.

Officers from the Tactical Crime Squad stopped a vehicle on McPherson St, Caboolture about 3pm on July 5.

They allege the passenger in the vehicle, a 62-year-old man, was attempting to conceal an item down the front of his shorts.

Police allege when they removed him from the vehicle, they saw a small black bag clenched in his hand.

The man will appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on July 21.

Kuwongbah

A 31-year-old Burpengary man has been charged with possession of a dangerous drug and drug driving and was issued with a traffic infringement notice for speeding after being stopped by police at Kurwongbah on July 5.

Police from the Highway Patrol allegedly detected a man speeding on Narangba Rd just after 7pm before pulling him over and finding a package near the car.

The man agreed to a roadside drug test, returning a positive result.

He will appear in the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on August 29.

Thieves nab cars

Police are seeking help from the public after two vehicles were stolen from a Scarborough unit complex between 10pm on July 3 and 4.45am on July 4.

Thieves gained entry to the Landsborough Ave complex after a steel gate was jemmied.

One of the stolen vehicles was parked in a secure garage and the other in a car space in the unit block.

Banking cards from a wallet left in one of the vehicles were used to conduct 11 unlawful transactions.

One of the vehicles was found at 10.40am on July 5 at Adams St, Scarborough, while the second was located at Southern Cross Ave, Darra, at 7.53am on July 4.

Laptop and toolbox taken

Thieves stole school textbooks, a toolbox and laptop from a car at Clontarf between 11am on July 4 and 5am on July 5.

The unlocked vehicle was parked in the driveway of a Joanna St property, with the owners waking to find the doors and boot of their car open.

Remote used to access home

A guitar stolen from a Bongaree home on July 3 was later found smashed in a nearby park after thieves found a garage remote control in an unlocked car.

The vehicle was parked in the driveway of a Cod Circuit, Bongaree house when it was ransacked about 12.15am.

The offenders found a garage remote control in the car and used it to gain entry to the house before stealing the musical instrument.

Driving charges

A 35-year-old Moranbah man has been charged with drink driving and disqualified driving after returning a roadside breath test reading of 0.16 per cent.

Bribie Island police were patrolling on Bribie Island Rd at Ningi about 10.30am on June 28 when they saw a white four-wheel drive driving erratically.

The man will appear in the Caboolture Magistrates court on July 21.
