Last orders for Dude and Duke

Dude and Duke Beer Hall, on Deception Bay Rd, will close its doors for the last time at the end of next week.

The venue has seen a “significant downturn” in business and it is no longer “sustainable to keep the doors open”.

However, after more than three-and-a-half years on Deception Bay Rd, there are plans to bow out with a party.

An open invitation has been issued for everyone who has supported Dude and Duke to drop in on Saturday, June 1 for “beers, burgers and good times”.

“We wanted to make sure closing down isn't surrounded by doom and gloom,” marketing and entertainment manager Taylah McDougall said.

“More just to celebrate one last time, D&D style, what we have achieved since 2020!”

There has been an outpouring of disappointment on the Dude and Duke Facebook page. Tracey Burns said: “This is so sad for Deception Bay, such a great little venue”.

David Walker posted: “I love this place, always good service and fantastic food” and Gavin Senior wrote “sorry to see you close, hope we can grab one more burger before you close”.

Ian Bishop added: “This is sad news for a fantastic venue This place will be incredibly missed. We will be at the June 1 party”.

Dude and Duke was the brainchild of Alyce Lafauci and her husband, who founded Pour My Beer and moved down from Townsville to expand the business.

They supported local independent brewers and those from interstate, opening on October 23, 2020 with eight beers on tap.

“Highlights for us would be the lively fun vibes we supplied every weekend with our musos that quickly became family,” Taylah said.

“And the amazing regulars that have continued to support us through the highs and lows throughout the years, especially during COVID.”

Taylah said winning the 2022 best entertainment award in Moreton Bay was a high point, as well as packed houses for Country Day Fest and World Whiskey Day.

Dude And Duke also raised almost $2000 for Movember last year.

“Most of all we love that we created such an amazing community hub for locals to enjoy their time and bring loved ones to celebrate special occasions with us,” Taylah said.

“We couldn't ask for a better bunch to share our love and passions with.”
