Enjoy Movie in the Park Morayfield

Bring the family to the free Movie in the Park Morayfield event on September 3 at Morayfield State School.

It’s part of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s bumper community events program for 2022.

Disney’s film, Jungle Cruise, will be screened at the event which is on from 5-8pm. The movie is expected to start about 6pm.

Movie in the Park Morayfield is presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council and supported by major sponsors Ausbuild and Moreton Daily.

Movie snacks will be available for sale before the movie and Morayfield State School Chaplancy will be cooking a sausage sizzle.

Moreton Bay Regional Councillor Adam Hain (Div 3) says he is looking forward to the film.

“Just like Pirates of the Caribbean, the movie Jungle Cruise was created around a ride at Disneyland so it should be epic,” Cr Hain says.

“This is the perfect way to keep the kids entertained as we near the end of Term 3.

“Come on down to Morayfield State School, pack a picnic, bring a blanket, and have a fun night out with the family surrounded by friends.”

Big program of events

Mayor Peter Flannery says this is one of dozens of events being held this financial year, in direct response to calls from locals for more festivals and activities in their suburbs and neighbourhoods.

“We’ve heard you and we’re acting to deliver more great local events close to home, so it’s close to home and easy for local families,” he says.

“In the era of Netflix, I love the idea of locals heading out and coming together for a movie. It’s the closest this generation will get to a drive-in, I think. I can’t wait.”

Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism Founder and CEO Shane Newcombe says smaller community events at local venues are the perfect way to bring residents together in their own neighbourhoods.

“You can grab the kids, some chairs and blankets and walk to these events with your neighbours and friends,” Mr Newcombe says.
