Free expo to provide advice and support for living a healthy life

Moreton Bay residents will have the opportunity to improve their own health and wellbeing with a free expo being held this month.

A number of community services, government agencies, local sporting clubs and more will be in attendance at the Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre Wellbeing Expo, which will be held on Thursday, September 29 from 10am-1pm.

Services and agencies will provide advice, support and activities that enable families and individuals to achieve well-being and the promotion of a sustainable healthy and happy lifestyle.

Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre CEO Malcolm Thomson said the aim of the expo is to raise awareness of support and activities that are available to help the community pursue wellbeing for their family and for themselves.

“We have run a number of these expos in the past, but this one is particularly important because of the flooding that happened in February and March,” he said.

“A lot of people are still struggling, so we will have a special stall for those individuals and families that have been impacted by the floods, and will be providing them with advice, information and referrals.

“We were involved with the community recovery after these events, and we have now just received a Federal funded grant to continue this service until June 30, 2023.”

With many people feeling the pinch due to the rise in the cost of living, Malcolm said many people were feeling “stressed”.

“A lot of people in the community are under a degree of stress because of the rental situation, the rise in the cost of food and other utilities,” he said.

“This expo means we can give as much support as we can to the community by bringing in as many services like housing, mental health, fitness and more all together in the one spot for people to access at the one time.”

The event will also feature a free rock-climbing wall and jumping castle for the little ones, as well as karaoke and a barbecue.

The Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre is located at 9 George Street, Caboolture.
