Fun run for a good cause

Redcliffe Hospital Auxiliary’s REDDY Fun Run/Walk is gearing up for its fourth year on June 23 at Clontarf's Pelican Park.

Redcliffe Hospital facility services co-ordinator and event organiser Rhonda Neal says the event continues to grow.

“The Fun Run has raised over $50,000 since it began a few years ago,” she says.

“The event gets bigger every year; we started in 2020 when we raised $4,500. Last year, we hit $20,000. We’re excited to see what we can raise this year.

“The funds raised at the event go to the Redcliffe Hospital Auxiliary, which funds projects that directly benefit patients at Redcliffe Hospital.”

The morning includes a 5km, 10km or 21km run or walk.

“Everyone can participate. If you can’t join on the day, all donations are welcome,” Rhonda says.

“We’d like to see more community groups participate and get involved. We have great support from groups like The Man Walk and The Moreton Bay Regional Prostate Cancer Support Group.

“If you’re looking for a competitive event, the 21km run is for you. If you’d like to enjoy the company of friends and a chat, the walk events are perfect for that.

“It’s a great community day with lots of local business support. The community radio station Bridge FM broadcasts live from the event, too.”
