Gallery: New op shop to delight bargain hunters

Bargain hunters rejoice - a new op shop selling everything from clothing to books, furniture, bric-a-brac, records, homewares and plants has opened in North Lakes.

Lifeline opened its new shopfront on Flinders Parade earlier this month, bringing the total number of Lifeline stores in Moreton Bay to 10.

Lifeline Retail Queensland General Manager Jamie Mackay said when it came to choosing a new location for Moreton Bay, North Lakes was the perfect fit.

“North Lakes offers a great opportunity to showcase our Lifeline brand as it is a significant growth corridor and attracts customers from multiple surrounding districts,” Jamie said.

“The response from the community so far has been incredible and extremely positive.

“Everyone is in awe of the layout, visual elements and the large variety of unique and high-quality items available.

“Even in the lead up to opening when we were stocking out the store, we had a lot of people wanting to gain access.

“We are so pleased we have created a must-do retail destination for the North Lakes community and beyond.”

As soon as you walk through the door, your eyes are drawn to the 1950s truck on display, which is surrounded by lots of plants and garden accessories in the section named Home of Plant Revival.

Behind that is the Vintage Revival section where shoppers will find items like records and classic outfits from a bygone era.

As you turn right into the store, you will find floor to ceiling bookcases, rows of pre-loved clothing, furniture and more.

“With every store we try to make it unique to the location, and we are always testing out new concepts. Providing a wow factor helps bring this concept to life,” Jamie said.

“The truck is a 1950’s Albion Chieftain make which we got from a wrecking yard in Brisbane.

“The bookcase was created to utilise space and create that wow factor that we were seeking.

“We originally had our eye on an English-style library but needed to ensure safety protocols of course so had the upper levels covered with perplex, thus creating a whimsical and collective library.”

Fossick for bargains

According to Jamie, plenty of amazing and unique finds have already been snapped up by buyers.

“Everything you find at Lifeline North Lakes is unique to the beholder. For example, a Camilla dress –a very hot item,” Jamie said.

“Rummage through our Vintage Revival section, Home of Plant Revival, women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and accessories.

“Homewares is amazing, and we have some special furniture pieces.

“And don’t forget our book library!

“We would encourage everyone who loves to op shop and enjoys a bargain to come check out our new store and see it for themselves, all while supporting a great cause.”

Volunteer your time

If you are interested in volunteering with Lifeline in their op shops, it’s best to jump online to register your interest.

“We have approximately 50-60 paid team members in our stores and 100-120 volunteers, and we are always seeking more volunteers,” Jamie said.

“For people interested in volunteering, they can express their interest online via our Lifeline Queensland website.
