Grace lands national swim award

Grace Swimming made quite a splash at the 2022 Swim Coaches & Teachers Australia awards by winning one of the night’s major trophies.

The Rothwell-based club brought home the Best Medium Swim School for Marketing, Promotion and Customer Service award.

“We are honoured to receive it,” Aquatics Supervisor Jaime Tulau said.

“We have put a lot of effort into marketing and promotion over the last couple of years, so this is very rewarding.”

'Very impressed'

Brendon Ward, CEO of Swim Coaches and Teachers Australia, said judges were very impressed with the Grace submission.

He added award organisers did additional research went into clubs and their achievements before winners were decided.

Grace Swimming, in Buchanan St, runs programs for everyone from infants six months old to squads and adults.

In 2016 it had 350 in learn-to-swim and 90 doing adult programs. This week there were 836 in learn-to-swim and 192 in adult classes.

Highest numbers

These are the club’s “highest numbers ever” said Jamie Tulau, and while “pretty much at capacity” work is being done to create more availability.

“While we are at record numbers, there is always room to grow and we look forward to being able to accommodate more swimmers of different ages and abilities in the future,” she said.

The Swim Coaches & Teachers Australia awards were open to clubs right across the country.
