Have your say on Brisbane Airport flight noise

More than 20 people have already registered to attend a community workshop at Samford on Sunday focused on the impact of flight paths to and from Brisbane Airport since the parallel runway opened in July 2020.

But a workshop scheduled for Bribie Island on September 14 has been cancelled due to poor registration numbers.

The workshop, independently facilitated by Trax International, is one of a series scheduled in and around Greater Brisbane as part of the Brisbane Airport New Parallel Runway Post Implementation Report (PIR).

It follows the release of the final report from an independent review by Trax last month.

Airservices Australia chief executive officer Jason Hartfield appointed Trax in January to independently review and make recommendations across all areas of the PIR, particularly on opportunities to limit and, where possible, reduce the impact of aircraft noise.

In its final report, Trax made a series of recommendations focused on enhancing governance and communications around airspace changes; further maximising flights over water; reducing the frequency and concentration of flights over communities; and optimising the wider Brisbane airspace system to deliver improved aircraft noise outcomes for communities.

“Airservices has carefully considered the Trax Final Report and adopts all the recommendations,” Mr Hartfield said.

How to have your say

“We look forward to engaging further with the community on the report and our response to it.”

Following the workshops, the community and stakeholders will have a four-week period to make submissions that will inform the final PIR recommendations planned for release later in the year.

The Samford workshop is on Sunday, September 11 from 3-5.30pm, while an online workshop will be held on September 14 from noon-2pm.

Attendees for either workshop must register here.
