Help create a spooktacular night for families

As the spookiest day of the year fast approaches, the Caboolture Historical Village is calling on community groups to help transform the 12-acre site into a spine-tingling and hair-raising experience in time for Halloween.

The theme for this year’s Halloween event will be “Village of the Damned”, featuring roaming zombies, interactive displays, some trick or treating, food stalls, and even a Halloween mini market.

With more than 70 buildings to decorate, Caboolture Historical Village Events and Marketing Manager Saskia Huismans is once again inviting locals who are dying to dress up and celebrate to register their interest now.

“Halloween has been a popular event at the Caboolture Historical Village for many years, and I want to grow the event to make sure it is bigger, better, and scarier each year,” Saskia says.

“We have lots of great buildings and areas in the village, but unfortunately, we can’t decorate them all, so we would like some help from the local community.

“This year we will again host our Halloween Haunt Competition, where community groups, not-for-profit organisations, sporting clubs, and anyone else who would like to be involved can choose an area or a building and transform it into whatever they like.

“You can dress up in silly costumes and have a few laughs while scaring people.

“Everyone who comes through the gate will get a village nomination token as they leave, so they can cast their vote for their favourite display.

“Last year the Rotary Club of Caboolture won for their gruesome hospital - they had a screamer in the nursery who let out a blood-curdling scream - that scared so many people before they even got inside the building.

“I think this is a great way to help bring the community together and create a fun night out for families to enjoy.”

There will also be some great cash prizes on offer, as well as exclusive use of buildings for the winning groups to use for upcoming fundraisers or celebrations.

Each entry in this year’s competition will also be awarded five family passes for the Caboolture Historical Village to use in their fundraising efforts in appreciation for their participation.

Discover what’s lurking in the old buildings at the Caboolture Historical Village’s annual fright night, which will be held from 5-9pm on October 31.

Visitors of all ages are invited to dress up and join in the festivities, which include interactive displays, some trick or treating, a mini market, and as a special feature for this year's theme where you can join in for a zombie walk through the village, ending in even more zombie fun.

The first hour will be scare free, allowing little ones to take part in the fun without feeling too frightened. Come 6pm, the village will come alive, so beware and take care!

Special event entry fees apply, which is $10 for adults, $5 for children aged 6-16, and children 5 and under are free.
