Imaginations run wild for Book Week

There were lots of superheroes, princesses, pirates, dinosaurs and even a few Minions as the children from Story House Early Learning Centre in Deception Bay let their imaginations run wild for Book Week.

The centre celebrated with a Book Week parade as well as participating in some fun educational games and stories.

Story House Early Learning Centre Deception Bay Service Manager Chay Slattery said celebrating Book Week is important for a child’s development.

“We celebrate book week as its important to promote literacy and literature with the children in our service and in the community of Deception Bay,” Chay said.

“We have established a relationship with Learning and Literacy Outreach Project which provide us with free books to give away to children to support their need for literacy and learning at home.

“Each year our educators dress up as book characters and the children and their families join in as well to showcase our love for books.

“We hold an annual parade where we all dance around in our costumes and share our favourite books.

“As part of book week and as passionate educators of the childcare sector, we set up small worlds and play scenes to match books which promotes children’s engagement of learning into the exciting world which books provide us and our imaginations.”
