Jediael makes the cut on The Voice

Jediael Isaacs has made it through The Cut stage of The Voice, landing a coveted spot in Keith Urban’s final five.

Urban had to trim his 14-strong team to just five, with fellow Moreton Bay Region product Jediael claiming a coveted place for The Battles.

Joining Burpengary’s Jediael in Team Urban are NSW singer Arlo Sim, drummer/singer Lozz Benson, Lau Abend and Cassie McIvor.

It was a tough decision for Urban, who grouped his 14 together according to singing style in a bid to narrow the field.

Jediael, 18, and Arlo were pitted against each other, in his second round, singing Lana Del Ray’s Video Games in succession, with Jediael going first.

Difficult decision

Both performances impressed Urban.

“Jediael brought out colours in that song and a vocal range that I have never heard before,” Urban said.

“The frustrating thing for me is I feel I could do something with both of you and I wish I could say I am going to go ahead and keep both of you in my team.”

In the end, Urban did just that, taking his team to three and leaving only two spare spots, which were filled by Abend and McIvor.

Speaking after the blind auditions, Jediael said she was thrilled to be taking part.

The Voice is such an amazing experience - I’m really excited to see where it will take me.”

The Voice airs on Channel 7 on Sundays at 7pm and on Monday and Tuesday at 7.30pm.
