Scarborough’s Helen Dacy is preparing for an unforgettable experience.

A member of Mandolins In Brisbane (MIB) and of the Federation of Australasian Mandolin Ensembles (FAME), she will play mandolin in a FAME Festival.

“Music is pure pleasure in my life,” Helen says.

“It’s a privilege to participate in FAME Festival 2024, a new experience for me.”

FAME members from across Australasia gather every two years in a host city - this year in Brisbane.

They rehearse intensively for a week, culminating in a concert that’s open to the public are invited.

New music to hear

This year’s concert is at St John’s Cathedral in Ann St, Brisbane, on Saturday, July 6 at 7pm.

New music commissioned by MIB for the event by established Sydney based guitarist-composer, Richard Charlton, also the concert’s conductor, and by emerging composer, Tara Lynam, will describe the Brisbane River in music in a program set to enchant.
