Maureen's new home from home
Maureen Spratt has moved house for the first time in 40 years – but not far. In fact, she's still on the same block of land.
The Burpengary East resident was the first home buyer and one of the first to move into Stockland Halcyon Promenade.
Located off Caulfield Drive, the over 50s community is on the five-acre property which Maureen had sold to developer Stockland.
Construction is well under way and 15 homeowners moved in over the last month when a display village also opened with four houses.
'Very special'
“For me, it was a very special and emotional move,” Maureen said.
“I’d lived on Caulfield Drive in our family home for 40 years, but after losing my husband (Ray) and my children moving out, I decided it was time to downsize.
“I sold my land to Stockland and then purchased a home at Halcyon Promenade.
“My new home is on my old block of land, so it makes me feel very happy and comfortable."
Maureen downsized following a health scare but is happy “being close to neighbours” who could help if “anything went wrong”.
“Since moving in, I’ve made great friendships with my neighbours in our growing community and the quality of my home is excellent,” she said.
“I know I’ve made the right decision.”
In a salute to the former land owners, Stockland is creating Spratt Park at the entrance to the residential community.
Eco-friendly
Stockland’s Halcyon Promenade celebrated the arrival of its first residents with the homeowners arriving in limousine and walking along the red carpet.
When complete Halcyon Promenade will feature 370 homes across 24 hectares with leisure and lifestyle facilities and plenty of green space.
Work on the Sports Club and Wellness Centre will begin this year, with a gym, 25m pool, pickleball courts, outdoor barbeque and an inside function space.
“What we’re creating at Halcyon Promenade is very special in terms of expansive facilities, quality homes and a focus on eco-friendly initiatives," Halcyon Promenade Project Director Andrew Astorquia said.
