Moreton Bay Kitchen, based at Whiteside, is the brainchild of international, award-winning chef Suzie Albu and was established in 2019.

Suzie continually networks using resources at her disposal such as the Open Food Network and Reko Ring to source and create original and healthy food such as Moreton Bay Bug tortellini created for a Valentine's Day menu, or simple fish and chips using local product straight from the bay.

Suzie has a long history of foraging and rooting out small local suppliers whose produce is little-known and needs championing.

This passion was instilled in her while living in the countryside in the UK where she won awards for innovative use of local produce.

“We like to provide fantastic food for all sorts of people and we love to use local produce. We have a lady around the corner from our kitchen who gives us purple basil and all sorts of stuff,” Suzie says.

“We are very much part of the Reko crew which is also about local business and we all look after each other … the point is that it is so much easier to use local produce than buy stuff from Vietnam or anywhere else.”

Suzie is thrilled to have won the Award for Food & Agribusiness Excellence.

“I’m completely and utterly blown away. I’ve got such a great team behind me. It means such a lot because I have such a huge support from my staff and my team and my customers who love my food,” she says.
