New market launches in North Lakes

North Lakes is gearing up to welcome the area’s newest market this month.
With crafts, crocheted stuffed animals, jewellery, homewares, a baby boutique, candles, sensory toys, music, children’s entertainment and a tempting array of foods, organiser Eliza Burke says the Lakes Central Market will have something for everyone.
“It will be a one-off event this year – we’re just gauging the public’s interest,” Eliza says.
“We’ve got 2000 people interested and up to 100 stalls for the launch.
“We have heaps of dog stalls selling all kinds of doggy treats and accessories and a local busker performing for everyone to enjoy, as well as picnic rugs for people to sit back and relax and Xander the Can Collector is coming along too collecting for Containers for Change.”
Fabulous food
Among the culinary delights on offer will be twisted potatoes, burgers, snow cones, ice creams, Vietnamese fare, loaded wings and fries and Turkish food.
“We saw a gap in the market in North Lakes,” Eliza says.,
“We currently run the Newport Market and a lot of our vendors were saying that a lot of their customers come from North Lakes.
“The venue has capacity to hold up to 100 vendors, so we’re moving our Murrumba Market, which has closed, to here.
“There’s more space for more stalls – people want to spend a whole day at the market.”
Eliza says there are still limited spots for stallholders with unique products to offer patrons.
The event’s on Saturday, September 28 from 9am-2pm at the North Lakes Town Common.
