New tenants locked in for Marketplace

Plans for a new shopping centre in Morayfield, which is expected to create more than 200 jobs, have taken another significant step forward.

Morayfield Marketplace, on the corner of Clark and Oakey Flat Rds, was approved in 2022 and Coles has since been “locked in” as the anchor tenant.

This week the green light was also given for McDonald’s and KFC restaurants on an “adjoining precinct”, said Jim Costello, a Director of JAM Group.

The developer is now waiting on approval from Moreton Bay City Council on a medical precinct.

Mr Costello said construction in Morayfield South, one of Moreton Bay's fastest-growing areas, was likely to start next year, with the centre opening in 2026.

He said around 225 jobs were expected to be created, mainly “in the youth to early 20s age range”.

“It’s a great vote of confidence in the future of Morayfield South,” Mr Costello said, when initial plans were approved.

“We are excited to be part of shaping the region’s lifestyle and liveability, while creating local jobs."

The 9000sqm retail centre, on a total 3.2-hectare site, will also have childcare, a gym, food outlets, speciality shops and a service station.
