More than 50,000 footy fans packed Suncorp Stadium for the Battle of Brisbane clash between the Dolphins NRL team and the Broncos.

Home side, the Dolphins, kept their finals hopes alive with a 40-6 win over the Broncos – their first since joining the NRL last season.

Fans brought large cutouts of their favourite players’ faces, made signs and had their phins up for the historic win.

They did the wave, sang Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline and enjoyed every moment of a game which will be spoken about for years to come.

The Dolphins take on the Knights in Newcastle on Sunday afternoon (4.05pm kick off) and must win to play finals footy. Captain Jesse Bromwich says if they play with the same commitment as they did in the Battle of Brisbane, he's confident they can win.
