Plans lodged for new childcare centres

Plans have been submitted for new childcare centres in Kallangur and Petrie - four kilometres apart and both close to schools.

Eden Academy, the childcare and kindergarten group, is looking to open it's first centre in this region - a 103-place facility in Kallangur.

A development application has been made to Moreton Bay Regional Council for Eden Academy Kallangur, at 68 Old Gympie Rd, beside Kallangur State School.

On a 1500sqm block, Eden Academy is proposing a centre with six activity rooms and 26 staff for youngsters ranging from a few months to five years of age.

There would also be two outdoor play areas - one for those aged 0-3 year and a second larger areas for those two years and over – and 29 parking spaces.

A second application, also lodged with Moreton Bay Regional Council last month, is for an 80-place child care centre at 50 Dayboro Rd, close to Petrie State School.

This would be on a 1093sqm block, of which about half would be used for the new “education and care service” building.

The ground floor would include the reception, staff facilities, two indoor rooms and an outdoor play area for children aged from 0-24 months.

Upper floor facilities would include three rooms for children aged from 24 months to school age and an outdoor play area.
