Plans lodged for two new churches

Two new churches may be built in Narangba, if plans are approved by Moreton Bay Regional Council.

Samoan Methodist Church in Moreton Bay has submitted a proposal for a church on land at 18 Praise Mountain Rd.

That followed a development application for a Sikh Temple beside an existing house on land at 29 Mackie Rd.

Plans posted on Council’s website show the temple would cover an area of 294sqm, on the 82084sqm block and include a dining area and community hall.

The house would remain and an existing shed would be extended for an “educational facility and multi-purpose area”.

Convert and extend

It is proposed to have 64 parking spaces for those attending the Sikh Temple.

The Samoan Methodist Church plans are to convert and extend an existing shed into a new church covering 499sqm off Praise Mountain Rd.

There would also be a small amenity block beside the church where services would be on a Sunday with programs for families, youth and the community in the week.

Twenty-one formal parking spaces will be provided, as well as overflow parking on the 5.6 hectare site.

Plans for new churches in Dayboro and Bribie Island have recently gone before Councillors at General Meetings. The former was refused, the latter approved.
