Sea Snakes' plans for girls rugby

Queensland Reds star Tina Campbell made a guest appearance in the season’s first girls’ night at Redcliffe Juniors Rugby Union.

Campbell, who plays in the national Super W, joined Reds' Development Officer for Moreton Bay Joshua Jarvie, who ran the session, at the Ray Frawley Fields on Friday.

Thirteen girls were put through their paces as Redcliffe Sea Snakes build on the program which has had considerable success in the last two years.

“In the coming month Redcliffe Rugby is running a series of skill sessions focussing on the girls’ game,” club president Andy Cara said.

“This term is purely skills focussed. In term two we are looking to run a Rugby XVs team, and in term three a Rugby 7s team.”

Redcliffe has been running the girls' program for three years and in 2021 had two teams take BJRU Rugby 7s Championships.

Last year both Redcliffe's girls 7s teams were minor premiers in their respective grades.
