Step back in time at Caboolture Historical Village

History buffs will have the opportunity to embark on a journey through time to a bygone era when the Caboolture Historical Village hosts a special Heritage Day.

The whole village will come alive with reenactments, local artisans, demonstrations, hands-on workshops, music, market stalls and more when the Heritage Day is held on Sunday, August 4.

With so much to see and do, Caboolture Historical Village Events Manager Saskia Huismans says the day will be a fun and educational experience the whole family can enjoy.

“If you have ever wanted to know more about Caboolture’s rich history and what life was like all those years ago, this is your opportunity,” Saskia says.

“There will be a couple of different elements on the day for families to enjoy like lots of demonstrations, hands-on workshops for adults and kids, music, games, and more.

“In addition to all the special interest groups who call the Caboolture Historical Village home, I have also invited some other local groups to come and join in the fun and share their crafts through workshops.

“You will be able to watch different craftsmen and women demonstrate traditional skills such as quilting, lacemaking, spinning and weaving, as well as blacksmithing, just to name a few.

“These are all very niche skills, and I hope visitors will like what they do and become interested in learning too, otherwise those skills will disappear one day, which would be a real shame.

“You can also look through all the buildings, take a train ride, and discover the beauty of our old machines, tractors, plus some vintage cars and motorcycles.”

After the success of last year’s event, Saskia is once again hoping for a big turnout.

“Last year more than 1000 people came and everyone had a great time, so we hope to see lots more people here this year.”
