The Bogan Prince of comedy to hit Redcliffe stage

‘The Bogan Prince’ of Australian comedy, Steven Whiteley is hitting the stage at the Redcliffe Musical Theatre for his first ever local show.

Steven grew up in Kippa-Ring and attended Clontarf Beach State High School in his youth and is excited to revisit his old stomping grounds.

“I attended Clontarf Beach SHS, where I was not particularly popular at all, due to being loudmouth and sarcastic and constantly striving to be the centre of attention,” Steven says.

“One of the reasons I'm so excited to return to the Peninsula is to prove that I've finally made those attributes pay off!”

The show he is performing at the Redcliffe Musical Theatre is brand new.

“I wrote it specifically for this tour. I used to do a lot of material about growing up in Redcliffe, but it's been done, and I want to move on to new things,” Steven explains.

“My comedy has always been about my life. I don't write jokes, I just tell stories, and this show is no different.

“A few years ago, I went through a marriage breakup and found myself suddenly thrust back into the dating scene in my late 40s. This show reflects how I've dealt with modern day romance, and some interesting adventures I've had along the way.”

Steven first started doing comedy in 1996 and has since performed all over Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and on cruise ships all over the world.

“I've made great friends and worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. There are so many highlights, I don't even know where to start,” he says.

“If I'm to be completely honest, every time I get to climb on stage and entertain people, it's a highlight for me. I'm so incredibly blessed to be able to do this for a living.”

Steven plans on touring this show around regional Australia for the rest of the year; with a new show in the works for 2025 which deals with his 30-year addiction battle.
