Tradie brothers face reality TV

Two brothers have embarked on a journey to renovate one of their Deception Bay homes on Channel Seven’s new renovation series Dream Home.

The show follows six pairs of Australians as they renovate each other’s older houses into dream homes.

Liam and Rhys have been described as the ‘pair to watch’ this season, as the two are tradies with a brilliant skillset and unique design vision.

Rhys says he was stoked to be given the opportunity to gift his brother his dream home, expressing gratitude for the many memorable moments on the show.

“Winning the first cycle with our kitchen was a standout because it boosted our confidence and gave us the inclination that two tradie brothers from Queensland might actually have a shot at taking it out!” he says.

“On a personal level, hearing the judges praise my tiling and workmanship was very rewarding as I take a lot of pride in my work.

“Lastly, meeting and forming friendships with all of the teams and seeing how hard everyone was willing to work to ensure each of them got their dream home was so inspiring.”

Working in the trade industry has definitely been an advantage for the boys.

“We both work in the trade industry, and I’ve had a lot of experience renovating my own home on the Sunshine Coast the last couple of years,” Rhys says.

“I was confident going into the experience that our skill set would be valuable throughout the show.”

Even though Rhys left his partner at home with their 3-year-old daughter and 7-day-old newborn son, the brothers were still supported by family and friends, and most importantly, each other.

“Liam and I also kept the fun and banter alive which helped during the stressful and difficult days renovating.”
