Venues spread Christmas cheer for children

Christmas will be a little brighter for hundreds of children across the Moreton Bay Region thanks to The Belvedere Hotel and The Komo.

The venues donated $20,000 in toys to three local charities as part of the Lewis Land Group’s community program.

Redcliffe Hospital, Hummingbird House and the Pyjama Foundation received $10,000, $5000 and $5000 worth of toys and gifts respectively.

The Komo donated $10,000 in toys for children aged 0-16 to the Emergency Department, Maternity and Neonatal Units and Paediatric Ward and Child Protection Units at Redcliffe Hospital.

The Belvedere donated $5000 in gifts for older kids - ranging from 10-18 - to the Pyjama Foundation, an organisation dedicated to providing children in foster care with the opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning, life skills and confidence.

The Belvedere bought a range of toys from Toyworld and other gifts from brands such as Lush, Colette, Rebel Sport, Cotton On and Typo.

Rewarding donations

The Belvedere also donated $5000 in toys to Hummingbird House, Queensland’s only children’s hospice, for kids of all ages.

Lewis Land Group Queensland Regional Manager Chris Allison says the company donates toys each year to spread joy and give back to the Redcliffe community in time for the Christmas season.

“Our annual Christmas toy donation is just one of the initiatives we take for the local communities, but it’s by far one of our favourites,” Chris says.

“Being able to provide gifts to babies and children in care is one of the most rewarding things we could do and we’re in a fortunate position to be able to do this for our communities.

“At the Lewis Foundation as a whole, we mainly focus on children and paediatrics, community welfare such as homelessness, healthcare, and indigenous welfare through the Lewis Foundation.”
